FAQ

When will I receive my order?

I ship most orders within 3 business days after receiving your order.

In certain special cases (made to order or made to size pieces) there are individual lead times on the description of the item.

The speed to your door depends on the USPS shipping speed you choose. Sometimes USPS has delays, which is unfortunately out of my control.

Why is tax showing $0 at checkout?

Depending on your zip code, tax will add separately at checkout, or it will toss it in with the price of your item. Don’t worry, taxes will be paid, promise. Queue “Taxman.”

What metals do you use?

The metal content of each individual item is listed in its description on the shop page.

I use mostly sterling silver and 14-18 karat gold. I also use brass and bronze, and occasionally gold-fill ( that means coated in gold in a thicker layer than “plated”) and silver-fill (same deal.)

I’m working on some extra hypo-allergenic fine silver (.999 silver, versus sterling that is .925 silver) and will update when those pieces are ready.

I never use nickel or lead in my work.

How do I care for my new goods?

The best care for your new piece is to use and wear it! Our bodies and clothing naturally polish jewelry that we wear. If it’s sat untouched for awhile, shine it up using one of these cloths or just rub a slice of lemon with some salt, rinse and dry it.

If you bent/broke/ otherwise did something exciting to your metal goods, I’m generally happy to fix it for you. Adventures happen. Get in touch.

Are your pieces “waterproof”?

The concept of “waterproof jewelry” is a marketing slogan usually associated with gold-fill jewelry or stainless steel that is plated.

I’ve never met a piece of jewelry that absorbed water, and metal objects generally dry themselves after being exposed to air by being worn. So wear it swimming, shower in it, sweat in it, live it up.

Just maybe don’t store your jewelry long term in a jar of water, ok? That would be weird.

Can I order a custom jewelry piece or custom bicycle headbadge?

I’m not offering that at this time, but will update if I decide to bring those back! The re-birth of my metal creating endeavor is different than Rhys May Jewelry was, and it’s more about showing what I have made already and making those goods available for purchase.

What happened to Rhys May Jewelry?

In 2021 I began a graduate program to study Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine ( I’ll link our clinic website here soon!) and the busy-ness of that endeavor combined with the good ol’ pandemic: changes in order flow, Etsy becoming scammy, etc was making it harder to run. It wasn’t fun anymore, and I needed to re-visit and redefine how I accepted orders and conducted business.

Speaking of scammy, at some point when I relinquished my domain and instagram handle, scammers took over the name Rhys May Jewelry and will now send you Temu goods and/ or request that you wire them money to claim the true inheritance of your previously unknown royal blood line if you go to my old site. Sorry. Feel free to report their page.
